I Promise! It's a CAT!

Last week, we had our (what we believed to be the) final interview with the government regarding our applications for permanent residency. It did not go well. After the interview, many people asked what happened, and why it was such a traumatic experience. . . I've dreaded talking too much about it as it's still evoking such high emotions for me right now - and with it all still pending on an addendum we filed yesterday, I hesitate to advertise the details. However, I can't get it out of my head and thought I'd satiate my desire to scream with an eerily similar analogy of our meeting. . . This is a *fictional* account based on actual events. We began our interview by being sworn in. Milo, Madison, and Ella were in the room with me, along with our attorney and the interviewing officer. We were asked a series of questions, which we answered honestly. (ie. "no, we do not have any intention of participating in espionage!") In front of the officer is the docum

So good for my Ego!

Putting Gabs to bed tonight - asked for 'Hilary Thurber' instead of 'Hilary Weeks' on the Ipod. I groaned and said I don't like listening to me. While snuggling, I started singing along to myself - she said, "See, mom? I told you that you are a good singer!" sweet girl...

A Poet!

Madison goes to a charter school that is part of a group of charter schools expanding through the country. They hosted a creative writing contest throughout their schools and Madison was excited to give it a try. She used what she knows about working hard in swimming to write a poem about running a marathon. . . Her poem was chosen to represent the sixth graders in her school and sent to the nation-wide competition. She was awarded yesterday the first place award overall for her division! (Grades 6-8). Doesn't it just make you want to run?? The Long Day By Madison Thurber "Just eight more miles to go," I thought to myself. This was going by so slow. I thought again, "I cannot quit, But really, can't I skip it?" I trained hard, Every day, 'Til I couldn't breathe, But running's my way to play. It came so fast, this long, long day. "Just six more miles to go," I said to myself. By now my stomach was ready to explode. Sweat was dripping fr

Babysitter Extraordinaire!

Image
The little girls BEG me to go out lately. They want 'Bubba' to babysit them. And guess what? She wants to do it! Madison is a fabulous babysitter. She plays with the girls - board games, puzzles, wii, etc. She feeds them, bathes them if I ask her to. Lately, they've been doing nails and makeup, if I'm gone long enough. A few days ago, I took the middles to swimming, and this is what I came home to: Aren't they GORGEOUS?? crazy what makeup does, though - Bubs is growing up so fast! A close-up. . . And then today I ran a few errands. Of course, the littles wanted to stay with Bubba instead of coming with me (I even tried to entice them!!) And I was surprised with a fashion show when I got home! The skirts are a little short for my liking - they're ones we usually wear with leggings, but they're beautiful and having such fun being 'models'. They have their hair straightened, along with their make up. Introducing, my cute LITTLES!! (Courtes
