Vivie-isms. . .

Image
I was putting Vivien to bed tonight and we were talking about what she was going to be when she grows up. . . I said something about her being a little girl, and she said, 'No, Mom! I'm a kid now.' I can't believe my baby is old enough to be a 'kid'! While we were talking, I was making up a story about 'Victor'. She asked me "What's his thirsname?" I think she's meaning 'first name', so I answer, 'Victor'. Then she says, "So then what's his Saturdayname?" I started busting up, because for as long as she's understood "First Name", she's understood it as "THURS-name". . . I had tears rolling down my face while she's trying to still get the answer. "you know, mom? My Saturdayname is Thurber (Serber), so what's Victor's?" When I finally calmed down to make one up (that old standby, Eyeball Magilicuty. . .) she said, really calmly, "That was funny for

Thanks, Angie, for giving me lame things to post, too. . .

You Are a Comma You are open minded and extremely optimistic. You enjoy almost all facets of life. You can find the good in almost anything. You keep yourself busy with tons of friends, activities, and interests. You find it hard to turn down an opportunity, even if you are pressed for time. Your friends find you fascinating, charming, and easy to talk to. (But with so many competing interests, you friends do feel like you hardly have time for them.) You excel in: Inspiring people You get along best with: The Question Mark What Punctuation Mark Are You?

I won't show you pictures!

I met Milo, Madison, and Vivien at our new favorite little organic restaurant today for lunch. It's called the Wake Up, and in the past 6 days (this is *so* not normal!) I have eaten there three times! The first time was breakfast with some friends, second was supper with the family that same day, and then lunch today. . . Once again, it was fantastic! We went there to celebrate/commiserate the news that Madison is quite in need of glasses. Milo took her to the Eye Doctor this morning, and her eyes are significantly worse than we had expected. She's hoping that she can get contacts soon so that she can wear them while she's swimming. . . we'll see. I had a pretty big dentist appointment this morning, so I got there a little late. People had been looking at me funny since leaving the dentist (I had to stop at Kroger to pick up a few things) and I kept meaning to check the mirror, but just didn't. Well, I couldn't ignore the snickers from my husband and girl

Why do they cancel the best shows??

I heard it was canceled, then I heard there was a possibility for it to be saved. . .*save it*!! It's a fantastic, thought prevoking show!

Thurber Gang FUN!

Image
We've gone back to the basics this week!! And it's been a blast. . . We've decided that what we all need is just a break from the outside world and concentrate for an entire week on just the fun we can have as a family. It's not like we never do things as a family - we try to as often as we can, but we've been blessed to have Milo home more than normal this week, and the girls have had several days off school, both because of cold days and today for MLK day, so it seemed like the perfect time. I'll post some other pics soon, but I thought I'd show you some photos of our "Cleaning Wars" today. We split into teams - "Lightening Bolts" (Milo, Madison & Vivien) and "Toe Stompers" (Hil, Lilly and Ella) For the first few rounds, we tied up legs with Milo's socks and had to complete chores 'three legged' style. . . we did dishes, took down *hundreds* of snowflakes that had been made this winter, cleaned desks & co

Hmmm . . . Interesting. . .

Concerned

I was uploading some pictures to my computer the other day, when this one came onto the screen. Vivien walked over really hesitantly and asked 'Is that my bleeding eyes?' I tried to explain to her that it was just the camera, and she had a hard time grasping that - 'the camera gave me bleeding eyes?' Too funny. . . Since then, she has checked in the mirror several times to ensure that her eyes are not bleeding!

Lillian's Baptism - January 4th, 2009

Image
Lillian was so lucky to have been able to be baptized right on her birthday! We had a fantastic day. Her Nana and Papa traveled from Calgary to be here - during a *crazy* time, but they kept saying that nothing could have kept them away. . . Lilly was sure glad. The day was beautiful. During the program, Madison gave a talk about Baptism, and Nana gave a talk about Confirmation. While Lillian was getting dried and changed into her baptism dress, we played a slideshow of her life so far - like we did for Madison's (I can post that one a little later). Then, all of the four girls sang "Jesus Christ was Baptized". The three older girls sang it beautifully, accompanied by my friend, Skye (thanks again!) Vivien, on the other hand, stood up at the front and immediately stood on one foot and put her arms out for a grand pose. Then she proceeded to pick her nose. REALLY pick her nose!! I tried to quietly get her to remove her finger, and she stage whispered 'I almost
