Please Join our Petition

Dear Friends,
(Specifically our American, eligible for voting friends!)

Under the direction of our (new and improved!) immigration lawyer, we are asking for assistance by participating in a letter-writing campaign to enlist congressional influence. We are hoping that by overwhelming them with letters throughout this coming week, they will be very motivated to help. If you are able, please write a letter in support of our family and send it to the following address.

Here are the facts:

Our H1-B Visa has expired before a new visa was processed, due to our past immigration specialist’s neglect and misrepresentation. This means as of February 28th, I will be unable to work, creating significant financial strain on our family. We are currently waiting for our Labor Certification to be approved, which is why we need help. This approval will allow for us to apply for an I-140, which can then secure us another H1-B Visa. Through congressional help, the approval can hopefully be expedited to allow us to maintain our lives here in the United States. Without this help, the approval can take up to a year or more. We’ve currently been waiting for 8 months, and might not be allowed to maintain residency if we have to wait much longer.


Please include in your letter the following information:

Paragraph 1 – Introduce yourself, and explain your relationship to Dr./Bishop Thurber or our family.

Paragraph 2 – How we contribute to the community.

Paragraph 3 – Ask for assistance in getting our Labor Certification approval expedited.

If mailing, please send to the address above. If emailing, this must be done through the government website at www.levin.senate.gov/contact/. No attachments are allowed. Follow directions given on the website.

Step 1 - select “Help with a government agency”

Step 2 - select “Immigration/visas”

Step 3 - fill out appropriate personal information; copy and paste your letter to the Senator in the box titled “Please provide a detailed description of your problem.”

**Please send a copy of your correspondence to milnhil@wowway.com so that we can maintain a file of letters for our lawyer.**

Would sending a letter to Debbie Stabenow also be helpful or should we just stick to Carl Levin? We will get this done within the next day or 2.

I hope you didn't spend much more money on this new improved lawyer. It doesn't look like you got any better result.

It's been a long time (7 years to be exact!) since I've contributed to this blog.  It had been such a wonderful way to save all of our important family stories in one place. Sadly, we had an unfortunate incident back in 2013 where someone made horrifying comments on a dozen or more posts and it freaked me out. I decided to shut it down completely. The Revealing!

  The Problem:   Tight financial situation. . . too many places our money needs to go! The Challenge:   To not spend any money on school clothes for the girls. . . Use fabric that I already have, clothes I already have, etc. The Result:  A *LOT* of fun!  The girls loved being able to be a part of the designing and making process.  I had fun knowing that I've hardly spent anything, yet the girls have a few fun new outfits for school!   Total Spent:  Less than $15.  This includes the new t-shirts with a couple of the skirts I made, a cute piece of fabric I have yet to use, and some elastic!  Everything else came from our own house! Vivien's First Outfit:   Her skirt is made from an old pair of blue cords that ALL four girls wore.  Vivs wore them last winter, and they were going in the goodwill box until I saw an idea online to make old jeans into skirts. . . this is what I came up with.  The material I bought when I was pregnant with Lillian!!  It was planned to be a nighty. . .

Proud to be a Detroiter?

I saw my friend, Tia's blog tonight and just had to say *something*. I'd been biting my proverbial tongue the last couple of days. There really HAS been more violence lately, it seems. It's like there was a tidal wave that began a while ago, and it's just gaining momentum and leaving a mess in it's wake. This article, while it had me giggling with the comparison of the two mayors with the first & last paragraphs, leaves me quite cold. I do hope that someday we will see an amazing turn around. This city has such an amazing history, and has the potential to once again be a great place. . . I've been wanting to share this video of a commercial that's been playing here. It gives me chills.
