Who am I? Who are You?

Well, Milo got paid today. That's always a really good thing. . . we know we can get groceries, pay bills, etc. *OR*, we could blow the whole thing and have fun in Mexico. . . today, that's exactly what we did. Milo's entire paycheck was spent in Mexico!!! However, it's not quite as fun and fancy free as it sounds. . . we got a call tonight from our bank, wondering if we had made a large purchase. Actually, a few *very* large purchases. My first thought was 'maybe Milo's buying me a *super* awesome present for Christmas, and I almost wasn't worried (I'd give him trouble - but not overly worried). . . but then they spoke to Milo. . . More money than we even had in our bank account (thanks to our new draft protection!) was spent by someone in Mexico - drained us completely. . . You know - this is something that you hear about. . . and take steps to prevent. . . (just yesterday, Milo was explaining to the girls why we shred all of our statements and bills after a certain amount of time) but, you never really think it will happen to you. Anyway, thanks, Charter One, for noticing quickly. Our account is frozen now and hopefully all will be corrected by Monday. But, what if there's more? What if it's Identity and not just card numbers that were stolen? I guess we'll just have to wait and pray for the best. . . really, Mexico would have been a lot more fun than this. . .

I'm so glad they called you...horrible...especially this time of year. Wouldn't it be fun though to just blow it all in Mexico just one time?

Same thing happened to us a few years ago. We had used a debit card to pay when we went out to dinner after the temple-one of the staff kept a copy or swiped it and emptied us out also. We also had taken precautions, now we mostly use a credit card and pay off balances monthly. Only thing we use debit for is Aldi's and Sam's.

Holy COW! How terrible. I wish that you were there using up tons of money instead but thank goodness for banks that make sure you are (and they are) protected. Keep us posted.

You sure went from right to wrong in a hurry! I am so sorry about that! I hope you'll be able to recover your full identity with the money. I hope they catch the thief who's doing this. Good luck.

Yeah, Russ and I never pay w/debit in restraunts or places where we can't watch them swipe it. Too dangerous. Hang in there.

I saw my friend, Tia's blog tonight and just had to say *something*. I'd been biting my proverbial tongue the last couple of days. There really HAS been more violence lately, it seems. The Revealing!

  The Problem:   Tight financial situation. . . too many places our money needs to go! The Challenge:   To not spend any money on school clothes for the girls. . . Use fabric that I already have, clothes I already have, etc. The Result:  A *LOT* of fun!  The girls loved being able to be a part of the designing and making process.  I had fun knowing that I've hardly spent anything, yet the girls have a few fun new outfits for school!   Total Spent:  Less than $15.  This includes the new t-shirts with a couple of the skirts I made, a cute piece of fabric I have yet to use, and some elastic!  Everything else came from our own house! Vivien's First Outfit:   Her skirt is made from an old pair of blue cords that ALL four girls wore.  Vivs wore them last winter, and they were going in the goodwill box until I saw an idea online to make old jeans into skirts. . . this is what I came up with.  The material I bought when I was pregnant with Lillian!!  It was planned to be a nighty. . ....

Bye Bye Miss American Pie. . .

Here's the update I've been dreading to write. . . we got official word today that we need to be out of the country in less than 3 weeks. Our heads are reeling what that means in terms of when we can come back, what to do with our house, cars, etc, in the meantime. We've been doing our best trying to plan for the future in spite of all of this. Vivien's ready for Kindergarten here, Madison's found an *amazing* middle school. We are planning. . . "If you build it, they will come." So, if we 'build' our future, will we see it happen that way? We sure hope so. I cannot express enough gratitude for all of the letters that were written on our behalf. Those have buoyed us up during this time, learning how we've touched the lives of people we really value, and who've touched us as well.
